Fished Shingle Street last night for the first time in years.
Parked at the phone box and walked along to the bay.
Fished from 13:00 to 20:00 two rods one with lugworm and the other with a whole squid on a Pennel rig.
Sea was as flat as flat.

Lots of whiting throughout, double shots after dark and then finished the session with a my first ever Thornback ray.

Nice ray. I had a 6 pounder there the other day and will be back there tonight. The numbers are down now due to the whiting invasion but they are still around if you put some hours in. Double figure fish are more common in the spring and I've had 8 doubles over the last five years. Whiting and to some extent dogfish can be a real nuisance taking the ray baits but you just have to be patient. Sometimes you blank (on rays that is) and sometimes you get several but if you don't try you'll never succeed. Give whiting fillet a try too.
