Hi all, can anyone advise on a reliable shock leader knot to use when pendulum casting, also, will using a tapered shock leader help with reducing the knot catching on the eyes of the rod at the beginning of the cast? thx all

I prefer to 'spade' the end of the shockleader with pliers or teeth :D (not recomended by dentists) and then use a 6 turn grinner.

Personally, I think that heating up the end of mono with a lighter flame changes the mono making it slightly brittle.

Out of Curiosity Steve what knot do you use on the field?.

Cheers Simon

A blob knot. Made using a lighter on the end of the shockleader - just a small blob flattened off by pressing the blob gently against the lighter.

For fishing i generally use a Bimini Twist - with this knot you can pull in through tackle snags and you get the odd bonus lead weight attached  Its a seriously strong knot
