Sizewell always fishes best when the tide is 3 hours up, and 2 down. After or before those periods, you are just feeding crabs. If its codling you are after, you can try target them right where youre campsite is, or walk further down the coastline towards thorpeness, but really you have just as much a chance from the beach next to the campsite. I think there is a sandbank our at around 60 yards to aim to hit or cast over that, or if you want to target a big bass, put your bait in the middle between you and the bank.
Best bait at the moment is definatly lug, or fresh wraps if you can get hold of them (they may be a bit on the expensive side though).
There are a lot of whiting around here at the moment. To try deter them, use a big bait of lug and squid on a pennel with 3/0 hooks (some of the buggers will still manage to hook themselves though:blink:
Time of day is evening going into night time, the wind should hopefully be coming from the NE when you arrive so there will be a bit of colour in the sea. Was down minsmere sluice today and the water was a nice dirty brown with a fair bit of chop on it.
Look forward to hearing your report as that is not a main spot of my choice in the winter!

Ive also had better sessions there when its been rough and virtually unfishable, you can drop your bait in just before the sandbank and it can still be effective. Just be a bit careful and not fish directly in front of the path leading down to the beach in between the white house and the campsite as it can be a bit snaggy there.

Arrived yesterday evening from 6pm til 8pm only a few small whiting, with one keeper.
High tide today at 12.30 pm fished for a couple of hours but fed the crabs, caught a couple of small whiting, then decided to go back down at 4pm, and fished til low tide and after dark about 6pm caught half a dozen small bass in the surf, followed by two bass (3 1/2 llb) and (2 1/2 llb) the picture was taken on iPad when I got back but better ones to follow as Internet patchy ! :clap2:

Nice bass mate, shame no codling turned up, but bass tastes better anyway! :thumbs:

Campsite is really good, peaceful and everyone here is very friendly, lots of fishing people who come on a regular basis, normally it's open til end of November but this closes on 5th as they are putting in new shower block, easy access to Leiston and Saxmundham for bait, pub a short walk along beach and also good cafe for breakfast, very dog friendly and so close to beach takes a minute to walk there. You can look it up ..... Beachviewholidaypark used to be called Cliff House.
Went out this afternoon but just small whiting and lots of rain, will go tomorrow evening after dark.
