heya guys ive been looking at both of these soft plastics and was wondering what is the main differences in them????.......they seem pretty similar but the megabass xlayer's seem to be the real fish catcher and everyone loves them.....apart from the price is there much difference????:unsure::unsure:

Caught more Bass on sluggo's though.
That maybe miss leading though myfish, how many years have you been using slug-gos and how many weeks have you been using Xlayers.

IMO They are both great lures, the Slugs have no scent, the Xlayers do, the Slugs have no rattle, the Xlayers do, the slugs are half the price of the Xlayer though!! And you could add your own scent and rattles!! Choices eh....... sweets in a sweety shop.....

didnt no the xlayer had a rattle in a plastic!!! no wonder they're.........not cheap. still they r cheapif you compare them to hard bodied plugs and from what ive seen and read, especialy mr henry gilbeys blog they catch a lot of fish!!!! can you rig them with a conventional jighead or does it spoil the action?

Pisc you need some new glasses matey they look nothin like a Xlayer, the Slug-go looks more like a Xlayer than they do...
theyve both got ribs haven't they? plus i think they will have a more similar wtd action -whereas the sluggo is more eratic. Just imagine the culprit without the tail (you could always cut that off, thats the beauty of softies so easy to modify) they dont look so different then -I'm sure both these and the sluggo influenced the Xlayer.

this is true.
didn't intend to mislead.

Both are good plastics.
In fact, when fishing over the low tide and in calmer clearer water i'd opt for the Xlayer.

Been using sluggo's for many many years. Its never going to be a fair contest in that respect.

I also rate the spindleworms btw.

do you work those soft plastics similar to a plug or is it a completely different story????
Its a completely different story mate and one that I am looking forward to learning. I have read articles and listened to egg spurts but there is nothing like getting out there and finding out for yourself. I do think I have been too agressive with my soft baits in the past, when I watch vids and listen to french guys that have been doing it a while they seem to have a much softer and more gentle approach than I do. I just bounce and retrieve too much, it does work but I see alot of guys gentle reel in steady. I have realised that the lighter you can go with the lead head/jighead the better they seem to work. All new stuf to many of us so here to this summer eh :drunk:

i no u sell the xlayers mrfish and WILL be purchasing some soon......does anybody no the best place to sourse some sluggo's ive only found one site UK based???or any other fancy plastic toys??
yes i have seen videos etc and i notice most people who fish them use an eratic flick of the wrist with a fast retrieve. none seem to fish it slow and deliberatly

Yeah I suppose, but I havnt used any of them much to compare to be honest so we will see. I know what you mean about adapting them though, its all part of the fun

I got them from:

http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descpage-EXWRAT.html

The only problem I faced is that I only made a small order of stuff $37 dollars but got one of those cards from the post office saying I had to pay ÂŁ11.67, ÂŁ8 pounds post office admin fee and ÂŁ3.67 VAT. Not good.

Imports (from outside of EU) over ÂŁ18 for VAT and over ÂŁ120 for Import duty are subject to Customs charges.

Was the shipping expensive from tackle warehouse - and was it insured?
