I was going to ask "Small bout of what" Flu, feather weight boxing.
Not sure how to anker, but if you mean anchor, the normal procedure is to chuck them over the side, making sure the anchor is tied to the boat (You will be amazed how many people throw anchors over only to see them disappear and never come back).
You normally use between 2 and 3 times the amount of rope compared to the depth of water you are anchoring in and it is good practice to have some chain on the bottom to help the anchor hold and to stop the rope chaffing.
being new to all this, i asked a couple of charter owners, they say twice the depth and as for chain no less than the length of your boat, also the weight of chain should be equal to the anchors,
hope this is correct, and it helps ya
Get good quality sinking nylon rope, the cheaper floating polypropylene type can get fouled around your prop - been there done that. I ended up anchored at the stern, man that was scary.
Lower the anchor till it hits bottom, then let the rope out slowly over the bow roller, but keep tugging every 20 feet or so to set the anchor.
Wildercard.
