I use those pots for prawns. Hauling every 15 minutes they are killers. If you are going to leave them over night make sure they are well secured. Under those circumstances they will catch lobsters and crabs. Try kipper as bait.

Loads of people use them on our local pier.
You will be suprised how big a crab or lobster will get into them, also fish.
Put a half brick sized stone in it to keep it on the bottom.
Don,t know about N Wales, but in the NE you need a licence tag for each one you use.
They are free from the Envirenment Agency....

I regularly chuck one in whilst rock fishing north Cornwall. Congers, Lobsters and edibles are caught at night time allong with the prawns and normal crabs! I have to use a long rope where I go too! First thing to do is remove the crab line string and put a proper rope on ;)
