Went out last night armed with eel and lug, intending to fish a session for ray and bass. Arrived at the mark to see a bit of surf but less than i was hoping but tried a lug close in anyway. First bite was a nice nod and the grip pulled out. Wound down to what i assumed to be a reasonable bass, Wrong, instead it was a new pb codling of 2lb on the nose:clap2:.
Rest of the session was a bit quiet just a few poor cod, 1 more codling about 1lb and a small whiting.
Winter species are on their way it seems, I wonder where summer went.

Well done mate, heres looking for things to come.
Who knows what with all the summer codling around(never seen so many) we could be in for a very good winter season.
As a note i have had them from the boat just off Caerhays beach(ridiculously close) and about 100 yards off Pendennis castle this year too as well as loads of others. What are they doing here...? Maybe theyre just on their summer holidays;)
Hopefully the bigger ones will follow them in too. No need to go up to Chesil then:)
