Hey Guys,

Looking for a bit of advice, those who fish southend regularly, where do a lot of the mini species come out?

Around the Casino do you get a lot of flatties/schoolies/blennies/pollock?

Also, is Leigh still good for flatties?

I want to try and catch these on lures.

I to think not to see a pollock in southend.

Wrong environment! Pollock inhabit rocky reefs/coatlines preferably with plenty of wrack or similar cover as do the Wrasse species amongst others. Common on the west coast Devon, Dorset, Cornwall and around to N. Wales where they grow to a good size.

I've not really fished this summer but usually it's swarming with small schoolies - and a strip of squid to put the smaller ones off and pick out bigger ones.

There's probably a few flounder about but you'll have trouble getting through the schoolies.

If you want mini species, your best bet would be the end of the pier but even then you'd probably be pushing your luck (but I've never actually tried it with tiny hooks).

I really doubt you'd catch a pollock - I've never heard of it - you'd have more chance of catching a salmon.
