Finished work early today so I thought I have a little go tonight, unfortunately just missed the tackle shop to get some worms so resorted to the trusty freezer back home. A stiff breeze looked to have settled in from around 5-6pm from the south, so would have been fairly exposed on the end of the pier so I decided to go slightly north of the pier & fish off the prom.
I eventually got set up just before 7pm and there was plenty of movement in the water and plenty of colour so thought it could be interesting. I had a couple of nice little rattles early on but they came to nothing in the end. And that was pretty much it for the 2 and a bit hours I was down there.
I packed up early as the waves were beginning to get a bit intense smashing against the prom wall and my Mr health & safety cap come on.
So first outing of 2023 and unfortunately it was a blank but… I did get the new rod and reel out to have a go with. Really pleased with them both.
Hopefully I will get a chance during the week to have another bash at it, maybe off the pier if conditions are fair.
Tight lines my friends.

Thanks for the report. Took a walk along Southwold beach and the pier yesterday afternoon. The sea looked very fishy to me, showing a bit of lift and roll. Sorry you didn't catch but reporting blanks is useful info and not as bad as a shed load of three inch 'tings. Quite a nice moody sky and sunset yeaterday.

Yes it looked a recipe for a half decent session I thought. I’ll keep trying as always and post my reports. Just a shame I couldn’t get any fresh bait but I did leave it very last minute.
