I've recently bought a conoflex rod (not sure of the exact model, quite old, looks like its made of carbon, long tip/short butt section)

The spigot is the plug-in type, with the tip going into the butt section.
This rod was previously jammed together and looks like its experienced some damage to the female join trying to get the sections apart. The carbon's chipped (upper layer seems to have come away from lower layers) and the visible damage runs down the blank about 1/4 inch at the most.

What would anyone recommend doing with the rod to repair this? Cutting the female section down a bit maybe?- if so how far?

Thanks in advance for any info.

A pic would come in handy.

If it has only splintered as you say 1/4 inch after having been stuck then sounds as if someone has been a bit naughty and tried to tap it off with a hammer or whatever.

Does not sound that serious to be honest. You would really be best to take the reinforcing thread off and check under there for any damage you cant see. If it is simply the 1/4 inch then re wrap it and forget it.

Pic would deffo help.

As Stanm said, strip off re-inforcing whipping check for further damage,if all appears ok clean up and re-whip,if you are not sure of condition after exposing show us a piccy.

Sounds like good advice, thanks. I remember a hammer being mentioned when discussing the stuck joint.
Will strip it down and have a look.

If it looks bad I'll have to figure out how to put a photo up.

Cheers, Graeme
