Hello all,

Sorry if this has been covered before but I’m very interested in catching some squid/cuttlefish from the boat out of Sussex.
I had to admit I’d sell an arm and a leg for a peice of fried calamari as I’m sure many would and to load the freezer up with some winter bait wouldn’t go amiss.

I understand the concept of using squid jigs but is there a particular depth/ground/time of day/time of year I should be trying? Any tips will be great

Join the FB Squid Group, lots of info there. Around here the season is mainly now until spring. From a boat the best areas will be rocks and wrecks because they hunt small fish which will be hiding in structures. Inshore night fishing is better but in deeper water you can catch anytime. The better the squid lure they more you will catch. Yamashita Warm Jackets are great but £16 each.
