Had a go down at St Cyrus beach (just north of montrose) yesterday. Loads of dab and flounder and suprisingly a couple of 1lb pollack; most baits performed but mussel seemed to be most in demand.

Is this the beach on the north side of the esk next to the nature reserve?

Always wondered what might be hiding off that beach as it seems pretty flat and sandy and not much else. How far were you casting?

Glad you were catching all the same.

"..... north side of the esk ?..." - yes it is.

If you go down at low tide you will see there are many areas with gullies and backwater flows at the southern end nearer to the esk. These are the places to cast into, the distance varying from say 20yds to 100yds depending on the feature.

Cheers, might give it a cast or two. Tis nice to go fishing sometimes where I don't have to absail to the mark and have a seat in comfort.
