Weather forcast looked good for St Davids Head so Sharked (Kev), myself and Alex (my son) decided to have an early start and head west for the day.
Good session with plenty of fish, but too much sun:crazy: Loads of wrasse about, my best being between two and three pounds, but got nocked off by the swell before we could get it up the rocks:wallbash: Kev eventually managed to land a wrasse, a personal best of 1 lb 13 oz after spending most of the day trying to get his gear out of rocks and kelp :wallbash::wallbash:after the wrasse kindly pulled it in!
Plenty of pollack around too, with Kev hitting them two at a time on mackerel feathers. My best came at the end of the session with a personal best shore caught fish of 3 lb 5 oz:clap2:
Managed a few decent wrasse as well:
Plenty of mackerel around all day, loads around the pound mark - four went on the BBQ for lunch - well worth dragging along and nicer than my sarnies.
Session ended with over 20 pollack, 16 wrasse, half a dozen dogs and a bag of mackerel mostly put together by Alex which almost killed kev and myself trying to carry them back to the car - much to Alex's amusement :laugh:- turned out there were 80 fish in the bag - loads for the BBQ and kev and myself sorted for mackerel for the rest of the year.
well worth the trip, but leave the kids and feathers at home!
