Arrived to fish the evening tide, calm sea, looked great. Walked to the NR, cast out and fished for three hours without a bite.
Crabs stripping the baits like it was June. Hooks baited with whole squid came back clean after ten minutes.

Think there's something called Armamesh that the carp boys use to keep crayfish at bay. If you haven't got the stomach to go and buy carpers stuff try then get hold of those little mesh bags that kids sweets come in. Thread your hook length through it from top to bottom and then tie your hook on. Bait up with your squid and then pull the bag over the bait and hook, making sure the hook point is sticking out the side of the bag. Next seal the bottom of the bag with a one inch twist of those sandwich bag wire things. Cast and catch roker.

To re bait undo twist of wire and slide bag up the line to re bait. Sounds fiddly but it's not really and works really well. I used to use this fishing Bristol Channel for conger and there are a serious number of crabs over there!

At least the weather is okay .... would have been worse in the rain :wallbash:

I will be attempting a couple of sessions after my nemesis species again this year .... no doubt I will catch everything but a ray as usual

You're right about the weather. I can put up with poor fishing in good weather, but not in wind and rain.
You're luck with roker is bound to change soon !
