there is luck and the feeling "This looks Bassy:laugh:"

This is gonna be a little :eek:fftopic:, but, as we all know, particularly in Wales there's a tendancy to call a Bass a Shirley (from Shirley Bassey for the non-initiated). So the general phrase used by me & my lad when going Bassin' is "this place looks Shirley" !!! Well, Luke recently said to me upon arriving at a mark . . . . . ."hey Dad, this place looks really Mary" . . . . . i'm thinking "Mary, "Mary" ?????? . . . so i says to him "what the hell you on about, Mary???" . . . . turns out he was getting confused with womens names . . . and said "Mary" instead of "Shirley" . . . .:roll1::roll1::roll1::lmao::lmao::lmao: God help him if he makes the same mistake when he starts to think that girls arent :yucky: !!!

Very funny Si, still :eek:fftopic: but along the same lines my mates daughter went to tell the joke,
"What to you get if you cross a biscuit and a soul singer?"
Everyone said"WE dont KNOW etc"
then she delivered the punchline...

"LIONEL HOBNOB"

instead of "Lionel Richtea"

so much funnier than the real joke bless her

Mossey... Talking of "looking bassy" is anyone else on here as sad as (subconciously) me when they watch tv...? Whether it's one of those adverts the BBC show inbetween programmes which shows choppy seas and a rocky cliff face in the background, a scene from a film where the man is propsoing to his bird on the beach, an Jersey Holiday advert, a music video where some rich bloke is sailing his boat off the coast of Monacco.... Hell it even happened to me once when I was watching Country File!!! Instead of concentrating on what I am watching, I am looking behind the singers/actors/presenters and thinking to myself... "Cor, that looks bassy. I must find that mark one day"

No? Just me then.

Not just you . . . my recent ones have been . . .

1) The aerial shots over the golf course in a recent competition (can't remember which one, think it was one of the Majors up North).

2) A news story with a reporter stood by the sea (think it was a really miserable news story, but i didnt really notice what it was about . . just thought that there was a nice looking chop in the water behind).

3) CSI Miami.

4) Opening scene to 'Saving Private Ryan' !!!

You are not alone Brother !!!

I can see it now, Lewisman watching Saving Private Ryan with his missus.

Bird: "Oh my god, this is dreadful"

LM: "I know"

Bird: "How awful"

LM: "Tell me about it!"

Bird: "How could they do such a thing?"

LM: "I was just thinking the same thing. Can they not see whats going on around them?"

Bird: "Perhaps they were in shock?"

LM: "Shock!? Blo0dy shock!? I'm in blo0dy shock, love! Look at the swell, all those features. Not one of those muppets have got a rod out!"

I can see some of the marks around St Aubins Bay, Elizabeth Castle and the harbour from my desk here, also some lovely spots down around Bel Croute/Noirmont the other side of bay. Cannot tell you how frustrating it is to be stuck here looking out on it.

I recently went to asia and took some heavy duty lure fishing tackle to try and get some nice G't's. After loosing all my poppers due to the braid snapping, I restocked in the shops of singapore and returned to my destination, every day the other tourist would take the pi$$ out of me. I never caught nothing. Until this :

When I was looking at Pembrokeshire hoping I might make it to the Wales meet I was blown away by some of the ground. I spotted one mark and found out is was fished by someone once....Fantastic stuff. You guys are really lucky. I really want to make it up there next year for a longer meet/stay.
