Travelled from Kent to Gosport this weekend to fish stokes bay again with the family and my nephew. cracking venue to fish with the family, we fished to the right of the life boat station so toilets and café nearby so the kids are happy lol! We have found to the right of the slipway was a lot less snaggy than the left. We got set up just before high tide and fished the tide down from 9am till 4pm, we were using fresh rag from daves tackle on 3 hook flappers 3/0 and squid on pulley pennels 3/0 4/0. With two rods each we braved the calm sea and sunshine all day with no complaints from the kids! The fishing was slow and it was all pin Whiting that were caught, spoke with a few other angler's there who were all really friendly and forthcoming with great tips and advice. A good all round venue to fish!

Hi.....I was with the group fishing to your right. The juniors of the local club had a match.

The reason why it's more shaggy left of the slipway is due to the submerged remains of the old pier you were casting into.

Glad you had a good time and caught a few.

I used to love fishing around there, we used to fish to the right of the boathouse as well, but it was very snaggy, one day i decided to fish with my heavy gear to try and cut losses, i got snagged straight away, i eventually got it in and it was a ball of fishing end tackle it must have been 3' round!!

I found fishing there much better at night, and the better bass fishing was often after a competition, i just free lined or float fished a small pout or whiting close in, kept quiet and often the bass would almost wrench the rod from your hands, very exciting!
