Fishing from 8am tilll 1pm at stonehaven harbour today, there was no action until the first few hours of the ebb, at which point I was catching flounder and dab on nearly every cast. Caught a couple of medium size coalifish around 1lb during retrieves, I think the motion attracts them. Bait was mackerel slivers on standard 2 hook paternoster rig. 14 fish in total, all of which went back safely. Still no sign of any mackerel.

I have noticed a few fish jumping around the harbour entrance, any thoughts about what species these might be?

10th July, sailed north towards Gourdon Inverbervie, and Stonehaven instead of south (my usual route) to avoid the pods of dolphins messing around over Annet Bank.

14 Mackerel, all safely released bar the 1 which I kept for my dinner.
Everything caught on lures / feathers.

11th, same place - nothing.

Stuck a rod out on the return trip with 7 hooks / feathers and pulled 7 mackerel in while trolling slowly. All released as too small to keep.

They ARE THERE, just take a wee bit of finding.

13th, foul snagged a Dolphin and was left with 12 inch of rod in my rod holder !
Lost a carbon rod / Abu reel / line....the lot grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Rod last seen heading north at great speed chasing a Dolphin.
