Hi While Digging Bait Today Of Kinghorn Beach I Dug Up This Strange Creature The Only Way To Describe This Thing Is That It Looked Like A Long Haired Tennis Ball.the Hairs Were Thicker Than Human Hair And They Seemed To Be Moving It Also Apeared To Have A Beak. Two Minutes Later I Dug Up Another Anyone Know What These Are ? :)

Hi Marcus,

It does indeed sound like a sea mouse which is actually a polychaete worm,related to ragworm etc. However the fact you mentioned that the animal had a sort of beak makes me wonder if it could of been some sort of urchin. Was the beak centralised? Urchins have a beak-like structure called an Aristotle's latern which these use to scrape algae off rocks.

yeah the beak was about an inch up from the base of the body and not sure if i mentioned this but they were about a foot down in the sand ,i was digging bait. :)
