I had my first sighting of a sunfish this weekend - very strange and quite impressive
here's a short vid on the last pass i made - not the best vid i'm afraid:

it does look a bit like a turtle, but i dont think we get turtles in gurnsey waters..? defo a sunfish. they're not rare, but you dont see them every day either.

Was fishing off a stone pier on the north of Jersey last summer when we saw a sun fish on its side in the bay it hung around for a couple of hours before going down. A few minutes later it cleared the surface in a jump before losing sight of it again - didn't think they had the ability to put up such a turn of speed? Between 2' and 3' from tips of fins.

they very intersting fish when i was up at stornoway one came right up to the boat it was like a dustbin lid very deep fish

Saw one off peacehaven the other week but i couldn't get close enough for a pic as it kept moving off.

Was drifting a wreck 14 miles out of Rye last summer and one came up a couple of feet from the back of the boat they quite impressive

It's mounted on the speargun with a bracket, or sometimes hand-held.
