My sister and her husband have just moved to Swanage and taken up fishing and are struggling to catch anyting. Can somebody give me some information and decent areas for them to try and what they can catch and what tactics to use. Dont want them to give the sport up before they have had a chance to findout how amazing it can be. Cheers

Not much about at moment but fishing at night should pick up a few fish to ragworm on sensible size hooks. It should pick up soon as long as the spider crabs dont turn up in numbers.

Rex in Swanage Angling will give you info as the local club fishes regularly, small baits, ragworm is good, and hooks (size 2 or 4) should get something on the beaches.... float fishing on the pier may get gar and mackerel should be about in a couple of weeks.
have a look at my blog for more details.

Its too early yet but I've had some good rays and bass, night fishing under the Grand Hotel. Stand on top of the cliff and check out the small reefs before picking your spot.
