the plan was to go to ferrybrige but as it was my wife’s birthday wensday gone and the poor loves been ill with sinuses all week thought I’d hang about sort the kids and give her a break. My mate text me to say he had some bait leftover from a bream comp that day but whouldnt be home till 5 that worked for me so I grabbed his bait peeler prawns a bit of rag and a load of freshish joeys and headed to the beach was toying with branscome but ended up at me usal haunt ( orso why the hell do pepole not relize that tractors can only do 30 mph and are easy to overtake on straight roads ) my first fish was a gurnard taken on my favourite pully popup rig me and mr fish reckon it’s a grey philR please confirm I then had a decent mackerel on said rig then night drew in so out went fillets of joey on up and over rigs next up was another gurnard defo tub next I noticed a good pulldown on my distance rod reeled into it and arfter a spirtted scarp landed one of my goals for the night a 3lb 14 oz ray surprise surprise it was a thorny only my second one from this beach . I knew I had a fish on the other rod as I was sorting me ray and was sure I knew wot I was right dog been a bit rare lately so didn’t mind . I had a third rod out tonight in close trying for bass or decent straps and not long arfter this I missed a big pull down boll@cks then I s£&t a brick when a seagull decide to fly right into my line right next to me and proceeded to get tangled the t(£t easy enough to deal with it flew off a bit worse for wear . On bringing in my distance rod I felt some weight and was surprised to find a large pout of wabout a 1lb on the end don’t mind catching pout when there sizeable had a smaller one not long arfter that but was desperate to see if ichould hit 7 species but wasn’t gonna happen missed wot I think was a strap on my close in rod but the bait was big . So not a bad night busy enough but did die a death over high but I was happy enough with my catch especially the ray reckon ferrybrige might have to weight till Friday but is it worth it on a small tide hmmm cheers ma Bute’s .
