The Angling Trust in Sussex has announced a new beach competition for Sussex sea anglers. The 2014 All Sussex Shore Championships starts in March and consists of 5 beach based heats held over through the year and culminating in a Grand Final on Sunday 12th October.

The first heat will take place in Pevensey on Sunday March 30th followed by a further four heats around Sussex. Entry is £15 and all the entry money goes towards prizes. Each heat will have a maximum of 60 anglers – making the potential prize pool £900 – and will be divided into three pools, the top five from each pool qualifying for the final. As mentioned on the south coast thread

The winner of the final will be crowned the Angling Trust All Sussex Shore Champion – more details of sponsorship will be announced shortly.

To enter into the first heat:

Would help if the dates for all 5 matches were publicised on this thread.

Along with as Ally requests the format for each match;

Be it chuck it in a bucket and weigh it at the end, heaviest weight wins,

Catch/Measure greatest length wins,

or Catch/Measure length to Weight chart most points wins.

As every time I try to access the AT or ATSMR links I get blank pages come up.

New posters coming soon with info per qualifier so I am told.

Been knocked for six losing the Seaford qualifier, big learning curve this year, hopefully next year we will be better organised.

That's a pity, the only local match I could make was Seaford. Hastings in June ? Brighton Marina ? Easier in the winter????
I'm gutted too crackpot, Seaford is one of those special Sussex venues, but at least we now have an organiser who is ready and willing to run a Seaford qualifier next year.

This is so badly organised... it's funny!

Now the information starts to filter through 1/2 days before the first match.

The first match must be in breach of the rules above...

Each Heat will be divided in 3 sections with each pool winner getting a cash prize

Also if the top 5 are getting 100% of the entry fees then what are you using to pay the section winners and best fish? (poor wording i suspect)

Speaking to one of the organisers there will also be further entry fees to fish the final, on top of the need to join the AT, this should be mentioned at the outset.

A shame but hey ho and best of luck to those fishing it.

Your highlighted bit is based on 60 entries, the absolute maximum figure that we had to agree on as part of organising so many heats throughout Sussex.

Participants have already been informed when they pre-booked and information plastered all over facebook, AT website and the ATSMR website, Sussex Angling Media as indicated in the first announcement. Where do you think I got the information from? just decided to post it on this thread as people requested it and the thread needed a bump.

If you don't approve then don't fish it, simple.

Yeah the info has only just turned up on WSF (your most likely customer base).

Unable to fish as the info was not forthcoming...the feet have voted.

I have fished many matches over the past year or so and not seen you at any of them. You have promoted this match series as a county championship run by and endorsed by the sports national lead body - are you serious?

on the whole we shouldnt knock this,we have far too few open matches on our coast, and anyone who wants to put on a series like this should be congratulated, personally [nothing better than winning money] it shouldnt come down to who wins what, that dictates wether we partake or not,it needs more promoting than putting it on facebook or some site no ones ever heard of,a lot more notice for some of us would have helped, anyone without a computer or doesnt have to visit a tackle shop regularly wont have a clue this is happening,i reckon this should be run as a league if you want to find a true champion.
