howdy all, its been a while i know, but i have finally had (what i hope!) is my final back surgery to implant my electronic, bionic legs etc:wheelchai

turned my self on to a comfortable setting and off i went to try out this amazing £40,000 medical gadget!:wheelchai

i went to an easy mark..well i thought it would be easy! :busted_co and i lobbed out my sandeel and float......whoosh...fishie on first cast...i was like a pig in sh*t! lol forgot what it feels like to hook into a decent fighting fish! first fish nice mackie weighing in at 1.5lb.....

carried on fishing for a few hours and thankfully the fishie god was looking down on me....missed what looked like 3 garfish takes but managed to land 14 mackie......crutchie is happy, but still a little sore....oh well things can only get better....:punk::punk:

can ask what did they do to your back? is that an implant as i am waiting to see if i can have the morphine pump fitted in my back and a implant in my neck area.

good to see you got out and caught :clap2:
this isnt a morphine pump m8 its what they call a spinal cord stimulator implant (SCS).

Basically i broke my back and severed several nerves, my legs, bladder, and femerol nerves.....the stimulator is an electrode surgically placed in the spinal column (epidural space)with a wire leading around (under the skin) to the front (my belly) where i have a small computer/battery implated....then with an external remote control i can adjust the settings to send electrical impulses to my spinal cord. this helps to alleviate the pain and the functionality of my lower limbs.....unfortunately the bladder is too far gone to fix, but at least now i have more movement in my legs. :punk::wheelchai

Its not a cure but it does help me about 65% more than before surgery. It is a very high tech op and only given to the most serious spinal injury cases, basically a last resort!! I still have to take morphine and diazapan, but not as much i was on previously.

I just have to remember not to over do it lol this is my second one since christmas..lol i managed to break the first one, by doing too much too soon.....but i have learnt my lesson.

Hope that helps m8, if you want/need any more info feel free to contact me, i'd be more than willing to offer any advice/insite into this procedure.

Hope your op goes well

thanks for that, the SCS implant is the one they are looking at fitting in the neck area, although not a spinal injury i have CPRS/ RSD a life time chronic pain condition along with another condition in neck/ shoulder. the docs took out my first rib last year and cocked up damaging the nerves so had to have one of the sympathetic nerves burned out and ended up leaving with the pain condition for the rest of my life. use morphine as a top up at least 3 times a day along with diazapam as am on huge dose fentynal patches, so hopefully having it done will help me be able to get out fishing more.

just dont overdo it like last time lol. take it steady xx

well done, not many people can do that, have a big op and then go and have a dangle shortly after, and catch fish.:victory::thumbs: glad your on the mend.
its been 6 weeks since op m8! and there are people out there a lot worse off than me that do more:1a: just look at our lads from afganistan...if they can do it, i m sure my little op is no reason to stop!

im no hero, just passionate about my sport and life in general.....i think most people would do it, wouldn't they! lol

gonna have another little go tomorrow with callum....so we will probably blank lol but just great to be out by the sea and not stuck in my little estury!

I'll post report tomorrow and let you all know what we can weedle out....think the trip to mark should be fun, ive only got a little 2 seater car (BMW Z3) and i have to get all my usual girlie fishing stuff in, you know the things, sink, hairdrier, change of shoes lol and i have to fit callum and his gear in somewhere...lol should be fun:doh::oops:

Well done on getting out and catching some mackie mate, top effort :clap::clap: just dont over do it this time lol.

10 days and counting till im down again :yeah: :yeah: as for another meva dogging trip, there has got to be more scenic places than Meva to go dogging :lmao::lmao: pmsl

Anyway im saving my bait for other species this time and that doesnt include the spiders that you, Alan and Callum seem so fond of catching :whistling

Seriously though mate well done on getting out and i look forward to seeing you all soon for a few all nighters again.

Cheers
