fished the birds last night had a couple of bites but didn't catch anything, when the tide was up i noticed movement on the surface where fish were coming up to surface, these varied from about 6 feet from where i was sat to about 30,40 feet out i tried casting to where they were and had a couple of bites,as the water was dirty and sun shining on surface i couldn't see what they were, has anyone any ideas and would it be worth trying a bit of spinning next time.

Hi Carlo

I've seen this myself. Its frustrating to not be able to see them as they are so close, but water colour does not allow this. The most likely thing is that they are fry but some of the splashes they make definitely come from something bigger. The probabilities are that they are either sea trout, mullet, or bass.
