any one been to the heugh lately and seen all those nets down the left hand side, why the hell do they have to drop them so close to the pier when there is all that sea to drop them and spoil our fishing, it will not be long before they are right round the pier stopping fishing all together

was like that one time, when we were mackrel fishing off blyth pier last july, this man went right across the bay, with a net, stopping us fishing, lost loads of gear, they just spoil the fun:uhuh:

Are you sure they are nets and not pots. Seem a bit close in to be nets i would think.

they are pots as well as nets however you can get snagged on both of them, there is plenty more sea to drop them not so close to the piers spoiling our fishing

There is some big crabs down by the side of the pier. When i wor a lad we made our own booler which was an old bike wheel minus the spokes with some netting tied inside. Two metal coat hangers tied across the top and a bit of rope tied to these. Tied an old cod head which we got from the docks to the coat hangers and hoyed the booler over the side.
We used to pull up massive crabs which must have lived under the pier or in the rocks by the side.
