Had 6 trips out last week with two in the roads due to the weather two with Andrew and the rest on our secret mark, the roads produced the normal juvanile Cod with 10 fish all around the 2lb-3lb size being kept and some decent sized Whiting as well best was 1lb10oz plenty of Spotty Dogs robbing the baits but it all adds to the enjoyment of a day out on the briney,Wednesday with the conditions a little better we ran off a bit to one of our special areas it fished very good on the back end of the flood with an early start we left at 6.15 as to make the most of a decreasing tide with Rooker/Cod/and Bass on the boat we were hoping the ebb would do the same but no it didnt fish at all,so Thursday we ran off to the same area again as conditions were spot on 10 mins on the mark and the first Rooker in the boat then followed up by to nice sized Berties both around 3lb then a 12lb Rooker what a cracking fish a 6lb Cod followed plus 3 more Rooker plenty of Spots and the first Smut of the season,so to Friday went straight to the same spot with much the same results except we had a 4lb Spotted Ray to the collection today thats the first one ive had on this boat with 5 nice sized Rooker as well all around the 6lb-8lb 3 Berties one was put back as it was a young female of 2lb and a 5lb Cod to finish the day as again the ebb didnt fish at all so we moved inside to a mark for a few Whiting that were all put back do to none of the party wanting these lovely fish,on to Sunday headed off to the same mark again with Bob on Iceane Spirit in close pursuit it was a bit lumpy when we got the anchor down and a good 3knot flood tide running it was hang on,Rob had the first fish a plump 3lb bass then one of the down tide rods was said to be stuck in the bottom no it was the first Rooker a fish of 8lb then two more followed, with the tide easing it was getting better all the time a cracking bite from one of the uptiders that i was sure to be a good Bass was a 4lb Cod thats fishing loads of Spottys were chomping the baits but we still had 3 more Rooker in the boat the flood was much the same as the last trips but we managed one 5lb Rooker and a few more Dogs lets hope that this is the start to our long awaited summer fish with my £100 Skate competion starting May 1st iam sure we will beat last years top weight of 12lb7oz for a chance to win book your trip and pay your entry of £2.00 be lucky, picture is of a few herring that we got 70kilo in the nets after 20 mins and 4hrs to clean up well at least weve got some Skate bait,BP.

Brilliant write up Brian, losing track of all these bloody nicknames though :) Bertie Basset? Thought they were Shirley Basseys? I love it! Great to hear we've got the spring/summer mix in amongst us and I'm kicking myself for not bringing down the camera to get a pic of that 12lb roker you had, beautiful fish that was.

Will bring me two quid next time :)
