The Rig, Whitby

Hi all,

This is my first post on here.
I fish out of Whitby with my Dad on a wreck 18 miles off apparetly known as "the rig". The highest point is 60ft dropping straight off to 30ft. I have been told its an old oil rig which came off a barge on the way to Norway during the 70's
Does any one know the name of the platform or have any photos of it?
I realise it has been blown in half as when it came off it was sticking out on the surface?

Welcome to WSF mate - cant help you with your quest for info, but do you do any good off the Rig ?- I occasionally get out off Whitby and would like some background info in case our skip drops us on it

Jeez, we dont think about the human cost when we fish these marks/wrecks do we?

welcome to the site phil, i fished off the rig /wreck a few years ago,all that sticks in my mind is the amount of tackle i lost for the odd fish:blink: spotty

not fished it for years but if you do fish it get ready you will lose loads of gear
