Hello all, hope you can help.

Heard some bad reports about the fishing out of Weymouth at the moment. I'm due out on a charter next week and wanted to hear some more opinions. Any information that you can offer would be greatly received. Thanks.

I see some nice rays are being taken on offshore reef marks, I haven't heard anything regarding wrecking trips yet. Keen to know myself.

The idea was to go for flatties on the sandbanks but apparently water clarity is poor and it's really effecting the fishing. Anyone been or have some good second-hand information re plaice and turbot?

there's a few plaice showing and turbot and a few brill that i've heard about but like you said water is still dirty and like crankup said there's lots of ray around

I fished The Shambles all day on Saturday. Conditions were not good but we persevered. We also fished the mussel beds for plaice over slack water. Not a sniff of a turbot, brill or plaice. Just one dogfish and a few launce and herring. A far cry from two seasons ago. I have 2 more trips booked, so I hope it gets better. I agree that lots of rays are coming from the offshore banks if you can get out over a neap tide. Good luck.

Skipper seems confident and I have since seen some reports of plaice coming out. We'll see.

I'll make sure to post a short report on this thread this time next week.

In fact, there is something that you all might be able to help with.

What is the best tactic for plaice in this part of the world. Coloured beads, hook sizes, bait/bait combinations etc? Anything that might be able to help!

mate what boat you on and beads green and black and you could put a spoon on small hooks small 1 and bait for plaice rag tipped with pawn they loved it last night

Not sure how true this is but alot of local boats are saying the mussel beds/ Shambles Bank is gone due to the storms and it could be a few years before it rebuilds itself!

You know its not good fishing when the commercial boats are going east to catch fish to earn money...
