I went to Eastney on Sunday with high hopes of having a pleasant afternoon fishing with the family. Set up one rod no worries (AFAW Estuary) and was fishing within 10 minutes. Went to set up my second rod (C3LD) and found that it wouldn't go together.

It's no where near the first time I'ved used it; the joint has always been a bit tight, but not to the extent it was on Sunday. I managed to get about 1" of the male end into the female (oooeerr) before deciding it really didn't feel right. However, when I tried to get them apart, it wasn't going anywhere. After an hour of effort and repeatedly cooling the joint using the frozen squid in my bait bag I eventually got it apart.

Has anyone else experienced this with a century (or any other) rod?

I guess I should use some PTFE/pencil lead or even some wet and dry on the male end??

The rods live in a quiver in my garage out of direct sunlight, but it does get warm in there during the summer - could any other factors make the sections expand??

A mate of mine suffers similar problems. After a back injury he had mercury injected into his spine.

On warm days he's about 7' tall, in Winter we carry him around in a bucket

had the same problem with my first cccld, so i took some very fine wet and dry to the male end to get it sorted. it was tight normally, then if it got hot it either wouldnt go together, or it wouldn't come apart. A dip in the sea to cool off then thoroughly dried worked to get it together.

I also have one of the newer versions with the metal band on the feale end, this doesn't stick and is easy to gt together.

Also had the reducer stick in my supercast too due to this, so i ice packed it to get it out.
