I like to take the odd roker but they seem very hard to kill ,can anyone suggest a good method ?:bangin:
That surprises me because there still seems to be plenty in the sea and they are not exactly a popular table fish. The few anglers that do like them are hardly going to make a dent in the stocks, I wonder if they are being caught and sold abroad by trawlers?sharpshooter said:I heard Greenpeace want them on the endangered list. Thet were protesting outside morrisons about it.
Also works well for Greenpeace members too:clap3:sharpshooter said:I heard Greenpeace want them on the endangered list. Thet were protesting outside morrisons about it.
They are great to eat - no bones, just cartilage like all elasmobranchs.
Carefully pick it up by the tail, with gloves on, and beat it on the deck. Works for me.
Go all the way through and take it's head off should do it....It certainly wont bite no more anyway, thats for sure.tonycccc said:I was told that you cut them about half way through just behind the head
Are you selling tickets to watch that? Should be a good show :blink:woodsy said:grap the eel by the gills with both hands, bend down and swing the eel over your back so its belly is outfacing, pull the head over your shoulder, this will break its neck plus many nerve synapsis, and will quell the biggest eel.
you have got to be kidding!:blink:woodsy said:grap the eel by the gills with both hands, bend down and swing the eel over your back so its belly is outfacing, pull the head over your shoulder, this will break its neck plus many nerve synapsis, and will quell the biggest eel.
Horrid things to eat, like eating a lump of the wreck!Mike.Q said:Might seem like a dumb question, but why kill congers,do people actually sell/buy and eat these.I use to always dump them back in and we used to get a lot,but that was18 years ago.
Would love to see the technique on a rolling deck when its rainingwoodsy said:grap the eel by the gills with both hands, bend down and swing the eel over your back so its belly is outfacing, pull the head over your shoulder, this will break its neck plus many nerve synapsis, and will quell the biggest eel.
