Well what can I say an awesome time, went out on "Sheldrake" about 10.30pm, a mates boat from Newport.
First anchor about 11.30pm, flat calm, clear sky and good visibility, then straight into fish, a decent fish, and I lost it as it raised its head'n'belly, 3 foot from the boat, we decided that it was a highly likely Bass of about 5-6 lbs, we fished all night moving out into the deeps about 2am, we decided against Aberthaw,
1 - Price of diesel, and
2 - Much less fishing time
All night we moved further out, then come sunrise, and what a sunrise it was, we moved in closer to shore ready to come in on the ebb of the afternoon tide, moving between St Brides and Farmfields side of the River, Npt side of the sand bar.
Between four of us, small dogs, conger, strap eels, rays, whiting and wait for it a Codling yup about 1.5lb just off the Sand Banks on the edge of Newport Deeps.
