This is my first post.....have been reading forums for a while and loving the tales of unstoppable fish i.e. Tope. Any reason not to fish for them this week and does anyone have suggestions of rigs to use? Thinking of going Wednesday- first shore trip for some years. Ps hounds still around? cheers and thanks for the informative fish reports

Tope from the shore is a bit specialist and I doubt many people will have even attempted it, but I do know it goes on in west Sussex a bit with suspected Tope lost at Selsey and a few caught I've been told.

I've done it in Scotland and you'll need a 200lb biting trace or short wire trace attached to a few feet of rubbing trace. Bait wise, I'd try an eel section or bluey as these will load perfectly into a DVice and cast better/longer.
