Today we were back in the top field chasing sheep away from the court - again. We had a nice breeze almost blowing down the court, which almost made up for the rising ground around the oche. The casting got off to a good start and some reasonable distances were starting to come but the forecast heavy showers made their presence felt and took the shine off the proceedings - along with the nice breeze. The showers became more frequent and finally ended the day for us so we measured up and packed up. Congratulations go to Alan Miller on his personal best cast on 125g. Also to Bobby for getting back across the 200y line and to daycaster Stevie on another fine display of casting.

Bobby - 125g = 202y

Tommy - 125g = 219y

Benny - 125g = 220y

Alan - 125g = 253y PB

Stevie - 150g = 268y

This Sunday the 9th of October 2016 is another chance to practice our casting. We are meant to have a OTG day but the grass is a bit long so it depends on which field we are in, either way it should be good craic.

I also wish to congratulate Thomas on his recent marriage, wish you and your better half many years of happiness.
Ps hope she lets you go casting sometime.

Well the grass was too long for an OTG day so it was postponed.

The day was glorious, with a high pressure system creating warm calm weather, so with little to no wind, high pressure distances worth expected to be great. It was evident after the first cast it would be worse than thought, as the recent settled weather has allowed a bloom in the spider population. So with the line full of dead spiders and webs the spool balance goes out the window, so it catches on the rings. increasing the chances of a snap off. Therefore today was a chance to practice our technique, look for snap offs, replace the web encrusted line and chase the sheep off the field, no wonder I am tired. While there are no official results, some of us came away quite happy with today's practice, others came away with the knowledge of areas to work on. All in all a fine days fun, with a few nice casts and a chance to put what's learnt into effect in two weeks time.

With a strong crosswind and high air pressure it wasn't going to be a pb day. Didn't stop us from trying. It was good to see the newly married Thomas Mawhinney was allowed out to play and slowly increased his distance each cast. Given the conditions it was disheartening to have a good cast, seeing the reel emptying only to know you have to wind in the large bow of line taken out by the wind. It was still a enjoyable day, apart from digging the lead into the ground on the power phase of the cast, snapping the leader. The thing is I wasn't the only person to catch the ground.

Results

MC
175g = 208y
150g = 223y

Tommy
125g = 198y

Bobby
150g = 179y
125g = 180y

Benny = NCR

Steve = NCR

Sean = NCR

Today was a dry day for a change, we also had a nice north wind which means it was going straight down the court.
We had a low turnout today, unfortunately quite a few of our members have injuries, mostly to their backs, hope you guys get better soon and make a return to the field. Some had a birthday party to attend or had other plans.
With the good conditions we started with high hopes, for myself everything was going as plan with distances creeping up with each cast, until I decked the ground on the fourth round, bloody hurt and my cast suffered as a result.

Results for 100g day

Bobby = 194y
Tommy = 216y
MC. = 231y
Steve(150g)= 261y
