Hey guys,

Looking for some info regarding mackeral at the moment.
We have left it a tad late to stock up the freezer for winter with mackeral therefore this weekend will see a few us to desperately try and fill a few cool boxes.

The mackeral have seemed to have disappeared from down Luce Bay and Port Logan areas in any great numbers, a 2day stint last weekend saw 6 come from Port Logan on the boat....

So does anyone have any up to date info on the sea lochs if they are still about particulary Loch Fyne?? The weather this weekend is pretty wild with high winds for the boat but Loch Fyne should be fishable.

Any info appreciated..... :help::help::help:

Cheers

Cheers for the replies guys, I'll let the other guys know what the script is.

I usually leave it to this time on Loch Fyne each year to bag up for the winter but just found them to be very patchy this summer.....although seems like everyone is having the same problem all around the coast at minute.....

Loch Fyne its looking like itll be due to the weather not playing ball, not all that far a trek from home either which is a bonus and cost effective since it's just mackeral we are solely concentrating on....

Fairlie banks just out from largs marina.Plenty last week.
Cheers Porgie.

I was told that by my mate last week, he was out and had plenty to fill your boots although the wind for pretty much all west facing coast is horrendous this weekend, launching will be a complete nightmare as its so open and exposed......but that was my initial thoughts on where to go.

Will keep an eye on weather hopefully it dies down......

We hired a boat on Loch Goil on Sunday one Mackie in three hours it was really poor. Neeed to get out again and try to get the freezer stocked up for winter.
My thoughts entirely mate, every time we have tried for them its been very very hard, freezers empty so must keep plugging away....

West coast wind ok if you get out first thing (6am?) sat daz. This would mean you staying in and not going fat slapper hunting tomorrow night, so I guess it's a mackie free winter for thee???

Luce Bay today approx 4 hours/2 rods/4 mackies !!!! interesting report to follow though :sun:

John
Hi John, thats exactly why we see no point in us coming down that way for the day as main quarry is mackeral just now but there seems to be none. As I said previous post 2days at Port Logan last weekend saw 6 mackeral, now that is very very bad.....

Look forward to your report mate :)
