SALC Home boat internationals 2008 - Milford Haven

After a really tight contest over two days, fishing the banks at anchor, rough ground drifting and rough ground anchor. The Welsh team took a good lead on the second day to take the honours and achieve the first Gold for Wales since 1996.

An excellent result when you take into account the team had four new caps

L-R : Byron Jones, Jon Law(reserve), Liam Williams, Rob Roberts(Manager), Phil Clarke, Rod Adamson, Colin Orme Thomas.

Final result:

Gold - Wales

Silver - England

Bronze - Ireland

Dark Bronze
- Scotland

Yes that is Jonesthefish on the left in the picky!

Makes you proud to be a Welshman!

I will try and put a list together but I would have thought close to 25 species in two days! Maybe more!:eek:hmy:

Brilliant days fishing on the 2nd day by all.

Wales won every boat. With first and 2nd places on two of them! Stormed back to take GOLD!

Only just recovering now!:wacko::laugh:

What a week John. Everyone pulled together to help each other. Good team work and tactics!

Cant wait for the next time now!

When I saw the thread title and then the photo I thought you had won the choir competition at an eisteddffod.

Seriously though, well done lads, great achievement

You apply to the WFSA boat team manager and then you may be invited to fish 4 qualifying match's, which are worked out on percentages. The boat winner gets 100%, then % are worked out based on the boat winners points, to every one else on the boats points.

After 4 match's % are totalled up and the top 12 anglers make up the Welsh boat squad, they are then split again between the Home International team and the World championship team depending on suitability to the venues to be fished.

To qualify you also need to have been a member of the Welsh federation of sea anglers, for more than three years. Plus be Welsh by birth, or Have Welsh parents or have lived in Wales for over three years

Good party afterwards around Haverfordwest. Weather was brilliant on the Saturday. Melting. :icecream:
