watching the bass

made my way down to a local harbour last night to float fish some rag i had left from sat.......

i was informed by a passer by that were mullet at the end of the pier, so i walked down to have a look......

to my amazement they were bass!!!! and good size ones too!!

the tide was creating some nice surf at the end of the pier as it passed over the reef and the bass were sitting there facing it...

tried my luck with my bass bandit but no luck and it got dark a bit quick...

now i know where they hang out i think i will try again later in the week.....

the bass are about!!!!!

Just fire all sorts at them, spinning sandeel, lures and float fishing rag, sandeel, macky, squid etc your sure to catch one :D
I've seen similar at Penzance and Padstow. I too was told they were mullet, but upon closer inspection I could easily see they were nice size bass!!

or live sandeel.
or live sandeel.
If they are bass, they should not be able to resist a floated live prawn, I guess the estuaries are starting to fill up will shrimps and other crustacean's, so they should be looking for them by now.
