Just bought a Greys Orion mk11 13' beachcaster on E-bay thought it was going to be £66 but somw *(&^%^$£ bid me up to £87.01 in the last minute all I got to do now is pay for it without 'er indoors finding out (poor lamb thinks everything I've got cost £25), don't know where she got that idea from hee hee. So any feedback will be appreciated except if you think it's a peice of s*** :)

Thanks lucky rod looks great I should receive it Mon or Teusday so guess where I'll be that night? :) and I made a classic boo boo the other night-'er indoors saw me rooting in the garage and asked what I was doing "Looking for a garden fork" was my innocent reply "Oh good you're going to do some weeding"."Um no I'm going fishing and need it to dig bait" Cue frosty silence "Then why when you usally go fishing do you need to spend so much money in the Tackle shop?"..Doh...slap forehead and some frantic thinking followed by an attempt to explain that the type of fishing I do requires a variety of baits not readily available along the South Wales coastline "Then if they are not around here then why do the fish eat them?"- that girl is far too clever for my own good. Anyway I managed to make my escape and started to dig, can't understand it I dig where the casts are and just about manage to get one worm for every 4 or 5 holes and then the bloody fork snapped and I just know it's not going to be long before she figures out it's going to be cheaper to buy a new fork than to continue subsidising my tackle dealers luxury motors. So if you see a lonely figure digging vast numbers of holes along the beach with a very small bucket of worms and a brand new, shiny fork muttering under his breath about the inequities of married life...............................................That'll be me

At least that's what 'er indoors believes after it was delivered this afternoon while I was out painting my mothers' house. If she ever takes an interest in sea fishing I'm in serious trouble :) still it means that I don't have to find a place to hide it now. ;)

Rod arrived at 3 was on the beach at 5. strapped on the abu 6000-1st problem, it's not big enough to lock the sliding reel seat, wedge of cardboard later problem solved. 2 hook paternoster, baited with lug, 5oz lead wade out to knees (nice warm evening, pair of shorts no shoes). First cast; my *&^%ing God lead goes flying so does line on reel massive birdsnest the result-there were Golden eagles flying above eyeing my reel and saying 'Hmm......nice place but I wouldn't fancy having to clean it, it's too big'. 20 minutes later I tried again, nice and slow-nothing more than a gentle overhead thump I couldn't believe the distance-this is some tool. 15 minutes later chance to put bite detection to the test the rod wasn't bouncing all over the place in the wind like my old Penn does and showed distinctly the knock knock of a small bass. Later on I lobbed a baited trace along the beach and paced out the result 93 meters without any effort at all. Used it a couple of times since and had some horrendous birdsnests but I know this is down to my technique (I forget sometimes and try and give it a bit of welly) All in all a massive thumbs up it's worth every penny. I know I'm not comparing like with like as the rods I've been using up til now have been rather on the cheap side but this Greys is a quantum leap I just hope I don't have to put the guarentee to the test :) :)
