I'll quickly post this before i try to make it to my bed before i fall asleep.
Myself and John went out on one of Dougie's boats last night spoke to some boys who had just came in and it didn't sound like they had a great day but told us the other boat out had caught a big spur so that gave us a bit of encouragement for the night ahead.
Tried up at the fish farm first before it got dark and John gets a 2 and a half spur on the first drop i then catch the small spurs while he catches slightly bigger ones .In between catching them i caught a gurnard and started to catch dogs as well ,John in his effort to keep up in the species race he catches a 2lb pollock but no dogs.
Before it gets dark we headed down around Airds point and tie up to a yellow buoy for the night .
And John still didn't catch a doggie!!!
HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE ?????
First drop i catch a 3lb ling and then start to catch some spurs before John decides to catch some spurs as well .I then start to catch some dogs but John still can't catch any.Changing my bait to herring and squid cocktail i catch 6 thornbacks to 4lb before John spots what i was doing and then catches one himself.
It carried on like this until low water when apart from half dozen whiting and an occasional spur it when quiet for rest of night .
So despite it raining nearly constantly all night we caught a lot of fish , 7 species between us , a good nights fishing maybe next time there will be bigger fish and thanks to Dougie for trying to put us on some bigger fish.
