Weybourne – Wednesday 9th June – 6pm to 01:00am:
Firstly special thank you to Dene (Conway) for some great bait (Lug and Large Dirty Squid).

High tide approx.… 7pm, with good height, wind light from SE, water calm and clear and warm…turned out to be a very warm night for the shingle.
Two rods….one Pennel Pulley with 2/0 Aberdeen and 2/0 Crab Hook fished at distance …one short with Up and Over Pennel with same hooks.
Squid wrapped lug (sheath style) on the distance rod…lug on the short rod.

First cast on distance rod produced a 26 cm Dab, with both rods catching Dabs until high tide with the best a 30 cm Dab again on the distance rod…most were around the 23 cm size.

About an hour or so past high tide a very lively 45 cm Bass gave an excellent showing of itself…again on the distance rod but most of the squid had gone (crabs were quite active).
About 11pm a 30 cm Pouting was on the beach, again on the distance rod and finally just before 1am another one…but at 26cm thought it was time to go home.

Weed was an issue during the strong current times of both tides as the bait was moving two quickly no matter what the weight used as shortly after being static it gets picked up (and it stinks of course) so the usual walking and casting gives you a bit longer, as does the longer breakout wires.
At least one Bass lost as it used the dead weight of the bucket ball of weed to throw the hook.
Hope this helps….tight lines…John

Thanks for the positive feedback and encouragement - much appreciated - meant to say that there was a lot of diving gull activity - thought there might be some Mackerel about so when they were in range I tried feathers for a few casts - but nothing - latter when these came close to shore I could see a huge school of small fry - one for the lure guys perhaps...

Great report and pics John. The shingle seems to have fished slightly better this year.
