Hi all

Im new to sea fishing and just getting the bearings of what i need and use, though i have seen some mackerel spinners and am wanting to know what these are used for. do you use these instaed of bait or do you add bait to it as well?

Hi mate,attach the line to the spinner and cast out.When you reel in alter the speed now and then,you can if you wish put a piece of mackerel or sandeel on for scent.

do you mean the ones made out of a piece of ali bent like this

i have never used them and i never will as i like the lead ones that are better to cast like these ones

i sometimes add 2 mackerel feathers above it also on a carp rod great sport

Yes I prefer the lead ones too ,Go for the 40 gramme one for better casting.

The top spinner works very well from boats. As a kid in Beer the mackerel boats used these on hand lines for pleasure fishing - 2hrs fishing and come back to Daddy with a string of fish.

They work very well, but in the age we live in there are many far better products to spin with.
