Hi every one, just wondering what colour line you use? I have recently started to use an Orange line. but the last couple of trips I have caught less then my mate who uses normal line, could this have anything to do with it???

Hi,it depends on the clarity of water you fish.
I fish the muddy, merky waters of the Bristol channel and im only confident to use either a brown or clear line...saying that i do use a fluro yellow shockleader!
Confidence is a big factor in fishing i think.

totally agree with that, normally i use titanium F1 with orange or clear leaders (always suffix surf or zippy):thumbs:

who gives! as long as its strong and durable! even super fluro red/orange breaks down to a dark murky grey 3m under water
(somthing todo with diametre and spectrum thingy ma bobs???)
as long as the business end ie the rig is a bit stealth (confidence).
i yous 60lb for the main rig body and flurocarbon for the leader
but i think realy at the end of the day thers no need to be flash,
thes fish havnt seen a hook before on the most part, ther not puddle carp! and not being hand fed! they see it sniff it and gobble it,
incase some other fish gets in ther first!
fluro colour mainline is good, very very handy night fishing!
if your thinking your missing results due to that, i urge u too think again!
bait, tide, rig, weather, location! oh and research! (ask around and u will get the inside track) your local tackle shops not a bad place to start!

I use black amnesia snoods

Is black ok and as good as clear, or should i change?
I use black particularly when fishing the rocks in North Yorkshire. A lot of sea weeds are black so black line must appear just like a strand of weed.

Having said that, I don't think line colour probably matters in most cases as sea fish rarely get a chance to learn, unlike freshwater fish which can become very tackle shy.

Bass which may be caught and returned might possible become wary. I have seen bass and mullet react with alarm when they have brushed against my line. Also, I have seen mullet which have almost certainly never seen an angler show alarm at the sight of tackle.

Some anglers, myself included, make their rigs as inconspicuous as possible just in case the fish might be suspicious about it.
