hi guys i am after a bit of advise
when i loaded my Merry fisher 585 onto the trailer sunday i manged to catch it on the trailer and took a chunk out of the gelcaot right down to the Fibreglass:wallbash: . its about the size of a fifty pence peice. and wondering how to go about fixing it ?? do i have to fill the whole with some filler first or can i just applie gelcoat if i can match the colour??

i am sure some one knows what to do !

Gelcoat Filler from your chandler will do the trick. Depending how deep it is you may be best to apply 2-3 thin coats, building up to surface level. When you have got it level; with the surface smooth a bit of clingfilm over it to avoid having to sand it down.

If it is below the waterline use an epoxy gelcoat repair, also available from good marine stores and definately available from www.marinesuperstore.com becuase that is where I bought mine :)
