Ours used to be short ahsed rods 11-13ft stiff as? for towing with 5oz plus 15lb plus lines
Conti rods 14ft plus lighter/softer for a different type of fishing as much of theres is light line/small hooks/baits plus like in med light tides using long rigs.
Ive some of each Sunset Hispex 14ft 500gramish rod so light! but has some power handled a 12lb bass no problems take6oz but 4-5 great casts great too.
Trabucco Catturia 5meter upto 120gram casting 3 tips awesome rod not as light as hispex got for float fishing use shim 10'000xte b runner flicks 1oz odd on float long way couldn't see float out there!
Stick 65 onit with 0.30mm line 95gram breakaway flat lead 3 hook flapper whops it out treble of sizeable whiting pulled them up wall no problem others that have had a play with it think great im impressed with it marketing is sh!te from them/importer!but rod speaks for it's self.
Greys Triplex 16ft that's more like a uk rod heavier but nice though that length does give you some distance as more leverage going out but less coming in(newton's law)
Where as if i want grunt for heavier sea's/big baits have my Daiwa's like WKT or Century Slammer old rod but does cast!

so it's horses for courses if your a grinder merchant the conti types are perfect easy to cast fun to use can use light braid or light mono as they say the world is your Oyster

One thing with conti rods is the weight stated is total casting weight not the lead so includes baits/hooks/swivels etc plus the power tends to be midd/lower

Continental rods, hear so much about these new wonder weapons.
Not new at all. The Continental style of fishing first seemed to hit the fishing headlines big-time over here in the late 80s/early 90s. Most anglers over here were using short pendulum rods and multipliers which were in stark contrast to the likes of the Spanish anglers that were using low bs mono with casting leaders and long, soft-action (what seem to have become conti) rods. Breaking strains have increased thanks to much better (and affordable) braid but the continental method was never just about increased casting distance ... rather it was also about fishing very light lines and tackle in general to pick up small fish in clear water. The Spanish international team did very well at it.
