Hi I use the Uni-knot for everything. just change the number of turns. i.e. 4 turn for hooks 5 turn for traces and leaders. 10 turn braid to nylon. Never had any trouble with it, only one knot to learn and can tie it in my sleep, handy on a cold winters night in a gale LOL

mono to braid (and mono to shockleader), spider hitch in braid/thin mono, then improved albright.
hooks and all end tackle grinner, half blood (for worm baits)

its not just choice of knot but how you tie them that makes the most difference, plenty of moisture on them and make sure they are actually pulled up tight, you can see wether the coils are close together and tight before you put it down, dont cut tag ends to fine.

i only know a couple, but i use a half blood knot for hooks, and a uni knot when tying thicker line, i think you can easily get by with just those two knots.
