What lures for mullet?

Thread title says it all really, I have got myself a little 3-15 gram spinning rod which I want to use as much as possible this year.

I have a stash of what I would call bass sized lures (90mm up to 120mm) for it but also intend to have a go at mullet on the lures if possible. I have a few dc7 knockoffs and a few mepps and other spinners for starters. I will be getting some of the smaller yo zuri inshore and and 3d lures to take care of the smaller end of things shallow diving and surface wise to see if they will do the business.

Has anyone got any lure ideas that have proven to be reliable catchers for mullet that might be worth a look at. I'll be fishing very shallow around the fleet and Portland harbour

Thanks all.

Have a butcher’s at the LRF thread ‘ Mullet Mayhem’.....
Bloody hell. I have always avoided the LRF bit after seeing people round here getting excited about catching 3 inch tiddlers. I assumed that is all there was to it and it was not for me.

I use a Mepps No.3 and a small maddie (river rag) on a single size 10 hook.
I live next to Portland harbour so don't really plan fishing trips and as I work into the evening trips are usually at 10 minutes notice after a quick look at the telly guide and seeing nothing worth staying in for followed by a quick gander out the window to see what type of fishing I can do weather wise so the bait shop will be shut by then most of the time. So even when bait fishing it is almost always a case of grab something salted or out of the freezer.

Would an isome worm instead of the maddie do the job do you think.

It seems like every time I plan a day off work and either buy or dig bait and get all my gear ready to go the weather stitches me up which was another reason for taking up the lure fishing, the little lumps of plastic are always there ready to go at a moments notice.

You could always try some small red garden worms or maggots, never tried them but will when they start moving into the rivers.

I have had a quite a few on shrimp flies tied on a 12 hook, white, brown and red; fly fishing with 5 weight WF floating line & 6ft leader. also a size 10 plain hook with bread on fly rod, lrf rod and float also small weight on bottom and hooks 1 & 2ft up from weight.
Plus of course a mepps No.3 spinner and maddies.
