i am looking to by a multiplier for around the £50/ £60 mark.

what can i get for my money?

i want a reel for beach / kelpy / fierce tide ect. preferably with mags.

what can be recommended?

im looking for new, but good condition second hand reels will be considered.

is the okuma range any good?

i am on a tight budget, so any help would be most grateful.

How about a second hand SLOSH/SLOSH X 20? I know that they don't have mags, but they cast very well and will cope with anything you could throw at them.

You wont go far wrong with a slosh 20 or 30, not mag braked but with red rocket fuel in the bearings and 1 large block they cast a long way and are very easy to control. Look through the ads in the mags, I got a new sl30sh from torbay angling for 59.99 a few months back ! The okuma magnetix are unproven yet as regards longevity and there have been a few reports about noisy bearings and 1 or 2 other small problems, use the search tool and have a look before you buy !! remember the slosh's are proven.

The only reel that comes close to your price & specification is the Okuma Magnetix.
Comes in two sizes - 20 & 30.
I have the 30 which is a good but heavy duty casting reel.
The 20 is a lovely casting reel but has a rather limited capacity if you use line over 15lb BS.
Both have a 5 year warranty, if I remember correctly.
Pity they have not got an intermediate size.

You can get a Daiwa 7HT for £69.99 at the G.A.C or a Abu 6500CTC3 for £69.99 from Gerrys of Morecamb. I would strongly advise thta you spend the extra tenner as it really is worth it.

As an all rounder for that money, I'd give the Okuma Magnetix MG-20 some consideration ... I got one off eBay for £54 and that included the postage as well ... comes with a 5 year warranty ... and it's magnetically controlled.

I has used it and it’s a very easy reel to use, not the slightest hint of an overrun ... mag works a treat ... mine casts fine with mag braking set too it's minimum setting and spool set up with approx 2mm end float.

I'll second the Okuma Magnetix, had mine for a few weeks now, started off a little noisy, now things are wearing in it has gone quiet. Line capacity is around the same as a Abu 6500, which is not a problem, use a good quality line with a lower diameter.
Very well controlled reel, the mags work great.
