Hi, I'm a new boat owner and I live a long way from the boat, based in Littlehampton. I am struggling to find an accurate forecast that is reliable. How do folks on here decide when a good day is approaching? any help would be appreciated 馃槼

These are ones I use - the first does wave height. The 3 day forecast is usually ok but the further out than that and its not as reliable, with details sometimes changing with each update. In summer you will find the inshore sea breezes are not always in the forecast and can be f4 close in but nothing offshore.

The Met Office is your friend, their Synoptic Charts (Now renamed Surface Pressure Charts) are the bases of the forecast. The Fishing or Shipping forecast is good for 12 to 24 hours. The Inshore for 24 to 48 hours.
Go to their page Coast and Sea for a range of specialist forecasts including Marine Observations which is live and will give you the present readings.

XC Weather for me. 4-5 days maximum forecast should be fine but 3 days is the best. UK foreast is super unpredictable which is annoying - because its an island?!? I grew up inland in Germany and Poland by the Baltic Sea and they were able to predict 20-40 days weather which was quite accurate.

It鈥檚 quite easy to predict the weather in Wales. It鈥檚 wet and windy. Sometimes the weather people get it wrong and we have this weird phenomenon called 鈥渟unshine鈥 and 鈥渃alm鈥 but it鈥檚 ok, we don鈥檛 worry about that too much as it only happens when I鈥檓 working or too busy to fish 馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ

On a serious note, I find Windy.com to be good. You can get a decent idea of the wind offshore, whereas XC can give a good indication, if it鈥檚 iffy it鈥檚 worth checking on Windy to see what it鈥檚 like at sea.

Windguru is good for swell prediction too
