Sure zziplex n century are super no doubt ! I love zziplex n century BUT I say conoflex is just as good ! Their range of rods were so interesting I regretted not getting some of them. Anyway my favourite is the legendary conoflex easy cast ! What's yours ?

I've got a conoflex foo fighter ff1 it's almost 15ft long weighs less than 500grams with bnhg guides. It's a very unique proper British style multiplier light beach rod super slim and fun to fish with.
Many say its too long but for me hold this rod and cast it n it feels like a12-13footer and it casts well n it's a lovely rod for fishing.
There's nothing out there like it. !
Another Conoflex classic.

Had a couple of Black Adder blanks, 13' I built myself many moons ago. Nice rods IMO. :)

I have several Conoflex, but the most useful is the old 240T from 1980. Old style heavy thick walled compound taper (like the ABU 484) with a fillet of carbon in the lower tip, and reputably the first "semi-carbon" on the market. The recovery is slow compared to the carbon rods of today, so using a short drop in tight spots is not a problem, and the release is still smooth and not rushed. I use the 7' 8" tip with the butt from a Nemesis SLR (replacing the short dural butt) with the reel low to maintain a reasonable balance.
It also makes a robust uptider with a short butt, as the thick walled glass blank takes the knocks on the gunwale without serious damage and has a good sensitive tip for setting up in the tide race.

Like Bill I also like the Foo Fighter FF1 15 foot for Light Beach and Estuary work. I have a beautiful pair that I bought from a very nice man from this parish, methinks he now regrets parting with them?;)

I also have a pair of the old Cod 6 13 footers, one with the semi carbon and one with the alloy butts.

Absolute favourite of mine is the MS Cobra 13ft, I love it and would love another to have them rebuilt together. So if anyone wants to sell theirs?:)

Still trying to get mine back after lending it out. Will never part with it when I do.

Conoflex just feel right to cast with! I had a glass Cod 5 with the glass butt, the tip was spigoted by Nigel Forrest at Breakaways as I needed a 3-piece rod for travelling with the RN. I caught so many fish of many species with that rod!

Since then I have had the Source Estuary Match (lovely rod!), Phantom XL, NG flicktip and Mirage 45 Safari. Still have the Mirage and the butt from the NG flicktip as it fits the Mirage. That adds 6" and makes it a better casting rod.

Wish I could have got the Frenzy, I live in hope!

Conoflex made many rods that were easy to cast and fun to fish with. The Mirage has a lovely bend with a decent fish on, a progressive curve that fights fish well!

I've been collecting Connies for quite a while. In fact I've got a bit of an addiction:D I've the following beach rods mostly in pairs

Bare Bone Bass
Bass Bandit
Easy Cast
Enigma South
Flattie Fanatic mk1
Flick Tip 13
Gambit
Gambit Xtra
Kevlar Super Bass
Lionheart
Mysteron
Phantom 45 XL
Pulse
Red Dragon
Semi Carbon 13
Scorpion S 150G

And a few unnamed glass fibre blanks that have been shop or home built. Then there's the uptiders, boat rods and freshwater stuff :speechless:.

Actually I might need to seek professional help...

I was almost embarrassed to post that list Bill ! A dear friend of mine left me his collection and that kick started my hoarding. It's only due to this CV lock down that I've managed to gather them all together and take stock. Some I'd completely forgotten I had, others need a rebuild but the blanks are sound. I'm ashamed to say there's quite a few that I've never had a reel on so can't comment on their performance, the Phantom 45XL is one of them:oops:

@Helpmaboab u embarrassed? Buddy that is a world class Conoflex collection!
And if I were u I'd be mighty proud and say it out LOUD I'm a Connie guy !
Really nice of u to come here and mention them and admit that some of them has never worn a reel yet.! It's k u said u are a Connie rod collector and that sure is an impressive collection!
Well done.!
Lovely stuff buddy!

The phantom 4/5 was a 12 ft rod optimum lead 125 g . The extra I think was 12 ft 6 or possibly 12 ft 9 . For its day it was as slim and as light as possible , with a short butt long tip configuration. It was deceptively powerful , j curve type action and a joy to use on balmy spring or summer nights chasing rays on clean to mixed ground. I never had the xl version that was brought out a bit later on as conoflex century and zziplex moved towards 13 ft plus rods .

Another rod I had was a conoflex slimster which was one of the first low diameter rods built even before the first tip tornado range by century

@simoniow - lovely to hear from u buddy, great explanation on that phantom 4/5.!
You know I always wanted 1 of these and never got round to ordering one and I'm gutted.! And recently I got me a rovex rangemaster 12ft and was surprised how I could actually handle it and what was even more amazing is I found out I could have a much faster finish with a 12ft + high reel.
Also I did not know that conoflex were the 1st ones to bring out ultra slim beachcasters I always thought century's tt was the 1st one.
Now I know thks so much very interesting history of an pioneer UK rod brand conoflex.!
Stay safe Simon
(Simon love that zziplex evo ct remember ? Lovey choice blank !)

Got a ms cobra and mk1 vampire, nice rods. Also had a original metalite concept which was a conoflex blank and loved it but moved it on as went to longer rods. Ref slim rods i think the zziplex midas was the 1st performance slim rod and was ahead of the others. Original tip tornado came after and heard this was their attempt at copying. Daiwa did simular with the awbs as they were aimed at the zziplex gs and gsi
