Just wondering, I'm not a big fan of catching hounds, I know they're good sport, but I'd rather get something for the table.
But this weekend I should be out as I've managed to swing an evening pass, but is there any point fishing selsey/pagham/hayling/etc... when the hounds are about for anything else??

Cheers

You can catch other species at Selsey but need to use different baits. Smoothounds will pick up crab, ragworm and squid, but tend to leave fish baits alone. Recently both myself and a mate have had thornback rays, not big around the 6lb mark. Also have had dogfish, small bream, small bass and pout. All were caught from the nightclub area
