Where do all the Pollack go?

OK, so we know that by October-ish the Cod all head in to shallower water to spawn leaving the deep-water wrecks somewhat empty. But what about the Pollack? Where do they go?

Off to warmer water for the winter? Deeper water? Cyprus/Majorca/Tenerife?

Thanks, Steve,

I'm happy to stand corrected. However if Pollack are still on the wrecks over winter then why do the charter boats (mostly) seem to avoid the wrecks and stay inshore for cod. Not saying all do but there's more to life than bait-fishing for cod inshore. Which I don't mind doing but would be happy to head offshore even in winter.

Ah! Ireland. Now there's a place I've yet to fish but would love to get there sometime for a week or ten day's fishing.

From Exmouth and further west you will find the boats fishing the wrecks for bass and pollack in the winter months with the bigger fish often coming Jan - February. Using lures which may work better in the deeper water there as often fishing in 60+ meters. Shallower water at this end of the channel may lose visibility after a few days of wind but if settled then lures could work on the distant wrecks. Certainly has good results from Rye in December on lures when conditions were good, which unfortunately is pretty rare nowadays.
